Banana OG F4 Auto Night Owl Seeds results from a trip to San Francisco back in 2019. At this time, Night Owl Seeds had yet to try any banana-flavoured strains before. So after the opportunity to pick up one of a kind cut of OrgnKid's Banana OG presented itself, he knew he couldn't miss out. He had become very sceptical after trying countless banana strains that didn't taste like their namesake fruit, but after flowering out the Banana OG, his whole mindset was forever changed. The cline had a powerful, undeniable banana profile that, through and through, dominated with barely any notes of OG that were discernible. Just pure gas and funk as well as sweet, overripe banana bread. Immediately, Night Owl realised he had to turn that profile into an autoflowering form, so the Banana OG auto project was born. After pollinating the clone with a sturdy and stout Wizard's Apprentice F3 auto male, the same used in the Marathon OG auto as well as the Lemon Levitation (Super Lemon haze auto), Maui Magic and Pura Conjura. It had become clear in the pollination of the Marathon OG and the Banana project that the Wizard male used allowed the photo period mothers' traits to be easily selected for so they dominate and shine properly in the mixture of genetics. With the F1 generation, Night Owl Seeds popped 48 seeds to look through. The male was selected for his sturdy branching, tighter flower clusters, and overly sweet, banana-scented stem rub. The female standout was caked in resin and bursts with the same overripe banana funk carried from the clone. The F2 generation was where things got truly interesting; out of over 140 seeds, one auto male pollinated eight auto females. In this generation of line working, some outstanding non-banana heavy expressions were found, including a female who had a smell and flavour akin to a pink urinal mint, an exact replication of it, to be honest. Some of them had some OG gassy influence from the Wizard's Apprentice genetics. Whilst they were enjoyable, they weren't what Night Owl was hunting for in order to carry the line forward. However, one of the eight females did check all of the boxes for crazy, in your face, dank banana flavour with solid structure as well as a thick coating of super sandy resin. The male was selected for the impressive stature he brings, as well as the same sweet banana stem rubs that matched the F1 males' stem rub. When it came to the F3 generation, they popped 100 seeds and reversed 12 females using their favourite reversal to pollinate 14 different F3 females. This resulted in a much lower seed yield per plant, but it enabled Night Owl Seeds to have a wider final selection to pick the very best plants from. When looking at those 14 F3 plants, he looked at only the most favourable ones to release the F4 feminized stock from, and one of the nice things about doing reversals is being able to see and smell the resin profile rather than just relying on stem-rubs, structure and gut feeling. The reversal used for the Banana OG F4 pollinations is a medium-sized plant, but she has stellar, thick flower clusters all packed with an over-the-top Banana Candy flavour, which matches up perfectly with the #11 mother. A medium-sized, quick-finishing, heavy resin producer with great effects and all of the banana flavour you could desire. You aren't going to be wondering if the smell is banana or not. Just give the stems a rub, and you'll clearly be met with a banana laffy, taffy, banana bread and overripe banana sweetness. That said, deeper within she has notes of cantaloupe, watermelon, green apple and even a hit of sunscreen. Nothing comes close to the dominance of the banana profile, but they're all happily in the mixture and can be picked out more easily the more used to her you get.
