Malawi Gold is harvested mainly in the Central and Northern region of Malawi. Generally located on plateaus at the altitude of around 4000ft and in dense forests. This subtropical region sees little to no rain for 6 months of the year with hot and humid conditions means that Malawi Gold has developed superior resistance to mould. Thus adapting to almost any environment, making her a very hardy and easily cultivated plant.

The plants grow strong and tall with lots of branching. The smell is distinctly of exotic pineapple/lemon mingled with spicy incense. The buds are king sized, super-resinous, and a deep gold, almost Amber colour.

It is considered internationally as one of Africa's best Sativas and is one of Malawi's 3 big “C” exports, Chambo (Tilapia Fish) , Chombe (tea) and the Infamous Chamba (ganja).

Healers have sworn by the plant as medical herb that helped with fever, malaria, dysentery as well as snakebites.

Local farmers say that the seeds acquired from this particular lineage are from plants that have grown in the area for as long as they can remember. Incidentally, they always produce heavy results harbouring an intense psychoactive high.
